Hot Sauce®
Safeguard fruits, vegetables, and young trees with Hot Sauce®, a food-safe repellent made with 2.5% capsaicin, effective against animals and lepidopteran larvae.
Overview
Hot Sauce® is a highly concentrated, EPA-registered pest repellent spray that helps protect agricultural and horticultural crops from nuisance animals with salivary glands and some lepidopteran larvae species. Formulated with 2.5% capsaicin extract, this repellant is up to 300 times hotter than standard food-grade hot sauces, creating an intense irritation that discourages feeding and chewing behaviors.
Approved for use on food crops, Hot Sauce® mixes with most agrochemicals and can be applied by foliar spray, drip tube, or directly to planting areas. With a 14-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) and 4-hour re-entry interval (REI), Hot Sauce® provides non-lethal, long-lasting protection without compromising safety or crop quality.

How does it work?
Hot Sauce® triggers a strong conditioned avoidance sensory reaction in animals and certain insect pests that deters them from feeding or chewing. When applied to foliage, soil, or planting materials, the product causes an intense irritation response in the mouths and digestive systems of nuisance animals—as well as in the sensory tissues of lepidopteran larvae.
This non-lethal crop production aid conditions animals and pests to avoid treated areas, helping prevent damage without harming crops or the environment. The proprietary formulation in Hot Sauce® allows the product to remain active across varied application surfaces and integrates into crop protection programs.
